When the Swedish ambassador in 1979, came to this mountain in Hokkaido, amazed at the scenery and atmosphere here, like most of his home in Sweden Leksand.
Thus, the local Japanese from 1984, began construction of a Swedish town and want to recover Leksand customs.
By 2005, the town has 550 residents. Leksand town also became a sister city.
People here not only Japanese, but also Swedish, they are very satisfied with their choice of lifestyle.
