I bought an ELLE magazine and there’s an article about ” A perfect day: Tokyo “. I have been to Japan, after reading this, I want to pack the bag and go back to Tokyo again. So today I want to write a post about A perfect day in Shanghai.
If you just have a day to visit Shanghai, then I recommend you living in central Shanghai. Even it’s super convenient to find the metro in Shanghai, and through the metro you can get to everywhere of Shanghai. But Shanghai is a big city, from Distance A to B can take more than one hour. Time is precious, I think you don’t want spend too much time on the transportation.
If you can get up early, go to Long Hua temple. This temple is the oldest and largest temple in Shanghai. Dating back over 1,700 years of history.
Metro: Line 3, Long Cao road station.
Yuyuan Garden should definitely be on the list of your visit in Shanghai. There’s a saying that ” If you not been to Yuyuan Garden, equal to not been to Shanghai.” You can enjoy the Jiangnan classical gardens style. And take a seat by the river taste the yummy dumplings. There are many different local snacks to choose from. And it’s really tasty. There are also a lot of handicraft artists have live performances such as paper cut, lettering, pinch sugar animals or people, painting and so on.
Walking on Nanjing road pedestrian street. It’s not far walking from Yuyuan garden to Nanjing road. But to save the energy, you can take metro or just a taxi. There are the most shopping malls in Nanjing road. You will find the most tourists from all over of China and world. I recommend you can take a tour train to get an over view of Nanjing road pedestrian street. Of course here also the best choice to buy souvenirs by good price and good quality.
From Nanjing road pedestrian street to the Bund takes around 15 minutes walk. The Bund, a total length of about 1.5 km, the east by the Huangpu River, the west side is 52 different styles of buildings, the essence of the Bund is that these are known as the ” World Architecture Expo” of the Bund buildings. Famous Bank of China Tower, Peace Hotel, Customs House, HSBC Tower reproduce the former” Far East Wall Street” style.
Take the ferry boat to the other side of the Bund, Lujiazui. Lujiazui is Shanghai’s financial center. Here you see the most modern part about Shanghai. The Oriental Pearl Tower, Jinmao Tower, Financial Center Tower and Shanghai Center Tower. In Lujiazui, you can find any style of food, no matter what asian style or western style or if you are vegetarian, you can still easily to find a perfect restaurant to treat your stomach well.
Relax in a Spa. Any well-known hotel in Lujiazui can make a reservation of facial Spa or body massage.
After the Spa, you may feel refreshed again. Probably go shopping is a good idea. There are two malls I recommend you go take a look in Lujiazui. First one is medium price Super Brand Mall, another one is High class IFC Mall. You can find H&M, Zara, Uniqlo, Muji or any other casual sports brands in Super Brand Mall. In IFC Mall, you can find almost any big designer brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Celine, Hermes, Givenchy, Prada and so on.
After shopping, better take a break. If you feel bored sitting inside of the shopping mall, there are some restaurants you can sit by the side of the street to have a cup of coffee or tea if the weather is good.
After a long day of looking around Shanghai still feel energetic, then why not try some bars in Shanghai. Night is the just beginning of the fun. There are too many bars in Shanghai. So I don’t write down here exactly the name of the bars. If you are interested, please search my old posts or mail me.
Different people has different interests, the one day tour of Shanghai may not fit your taste, but I think you can have a try. For most of the people, I think my advice will be helpful and enjoyable.
