Today is December 13th Sweden’s traditional festivals, “Saint Lucia day”. The winter in Sweden is long and cold, and December 13th is considered to be the longest and darkest night of the year. After today, night time began to shorten and day time gets longer, so the Swedish people celebrate this day. And this festival has another name called “To meet light festival”.
General impression of the festival is celebrated at night, but Saint Lucia’s day is celebrated in the early morning, you can see all of the schools and churches in Sweden on this day the children dressed in a white robe, hold candles, surrounded by a girl wearing a settled crowns of candles on, singing the song of saint Lucia together through the darkness of winter cold wind blows. Beside the city center is usually placed along the way with candles, bring warmth and light to the people who go to work or students go to school.
The darkness will soon leave, the day will be new, rising from the rosy sky, this is Saint Lucia.
