“无印” in Japanese means no pattern, that means no logo.“良品” means good thing. So “无印良品” means good thing which don’t have brand logo. Red colour is the few bright colours with Muji products.
But Muji is not a single color, on the contrary, in their products, we can see blue, gray, brown and so on. The color give us quiet and simple impression. In product development, such as clothing should strictly abide no pattern, plaid, stripes and other design principles, using only black and white, brown, blue and other color. No matter how popular, Muji will never exceed the design principles to develop products.
For environmental and consumer health, Muji provisions shall not use many materials, such as PVC, Teflon, stevia, sorbic acid and so on. On the packaging, Muji’s style is also more transparent and translucent, kept to as simple as possible.
