Shanghai Chongming island is the third largest island in China, an area of 1041.21 square kilometers.
How to get there? Take metro Line 3, get off at Bao Yang Road Station, then take taxi to Bao Yang pier ( cost not so much, around starting fee). You can take bus to get there, but trust me this method is the easiest and not crowded. From the central Shanghai to the pier, about 40 minutes.
Dongping Forest Park, Asia’s largest artificial forest. It’s not just walking in the forest. There are a lot of activities like rock climbing, paintball shoot, grass skiing, golf, horse riding, bathing beach ( around 20,000 square meters, also have barbecue, beach volleyball, kite flying, camping) and some other activities.
Dongtan wetland park, it has the name” Shanghai’s back garden”. If you like birds, here will be perfect for you, bring your favourite camera, you will see a lot of different birds or you can get up early watching the sunrise and enjoy the peaceful moment by the sea.
And if you like riding bicycle, you can bring your bicycle here or you can rent one, take a ride around Chongming island.
If you like alcohol, then you have to try Chongming white wine, rice as a raw material. It taste sweet and smell very good. When I was a little girl, there’s always one bottle of Chongming white wine in the cabinet, when some relatives or friends come visit, then my father definitely took the wine out and enjoy the wine together.
Maybe you will feel its not so convenient go to Chongming island. But if you have the time, I recommend you go there, one day trip maybe too stressed, stay one night there. Far away from the busy city life, give yourself to relax for a while. When you back to the central city, I think you will charged.
